Recommendations for venues on a tight budget

I know people who have gotten married at Canadian Legion locations and said that was the most affordable. Things like community/rec centres, legions, or fire halls are usually cheaper to rent, but take more work to get all the other rentals and decor, as well as providing their own food and staff which was cheaper than catering. I went with a venue that has a reception room just for that so I wouldn't have to rent tables, dishes, napkins, etc.
