Reception with no dancing?! help

Sandra, on July 31, 2020 at 16:44 Posted in Wedding reception 1 2
Hello all!

We are still going ahead with our November wedding despite covid, but where we live dancing has been banned which means no DJ and no reception. We are having our close family and friends come back to the bed and breakfast we are staying at. But we aren't sure what everyones gonna do. Drink? Mingle? HELP.
We are hoping to come up with some games of some sort (other than the typical shoe game, etc.) And we are not looking to hire any kind of entertainment. Anyone have any ideas?😊

You could have a few table games if you do need people to stay in their bubbles. Maybe a guess the age of the bride/groom/wedding party with a slideshow or albums at each table and cards to write the answers on. Table with the most correct answers could win anything from bragging rights, a round of drinks etc.

A friend did a version of the newlywed game where they were pre-recorded answering questions about one another and in person had to guess what the other would say. For example she thought his favorite dish was spaghetti and he actually bombed that question and had answered "bowl"...This is less about winning/losing and more about pure entertainment.

Are you keeping people at their specific tables or are they allowed to move? In Toronto, guests in restaurants and venues are expected to stay seated at their tables unless they're going to the bathroom or paying the bill, which means whatever game of entertainment we have must be confined to the table. If you're allowed to move about, you can have a photo booth (props might be iffy with covid - maybe hand held ones only and no "costumes" with bottles of sanitizer on the table). If guests are expected to be stuck in one spot, you can try board games or trivia.
