Reception schedule

The best thing is you can play around with this yourself and make it exactly what you want. There is no specific set schedule. For us this is what we plan to do.

Arrive back after photos, guest are seated at tables.
MC/DJ introduces wedding party and they take their seat.
We get introduced and take our seat.
Dinner is served.
Mid dinner we make our rounds to greet each guest.
Near end of dinner speeches
After dinner first dance, father daughter dance.
Party time and dessert is served.
Garter toss and more party.
Late night snack.
Last dances and our departure.

We don't like the dances before dinner so we made them after.

When making the day schedule for reception, i took in condiseration of before and after dinner with 2 unexpected detail.

Before dinner:
Bollywood entrance with wedding party.
Mother and sons dance.
Cake cutting.
Speeches.

After dinner:
First dance towards midnight mark.

The 2 unexpected timings not accounted for are the pictures of us during dinner and to recording of how we met for the video.

We are doing speeches at the start of each course and we will do our big thank you speech once dessert is served (after we cut the cake) then we will do the special dances. About 2 hours into the reception we are going to do the bouquet and garter toss
the great thing about being the bride is getting to do things how you want to!

You can pretty much do whatever you want! We are doing TYs before our 1st course, MOH and BM speech before main courses, welcoming into the family for both sides before dessert, and then doing first, father/daughter and mother/son dances right before the bar opens for the night. Then after a few songs (and alcoholic drinks ) we are going to do garter and bouquet tosses. It's really up to you how you arrange things that make the most sense. Personally, I wouldn't do the dances before dinner (like my SIL and brother did) because everyone was so hangry they were annoyed and didn't pay attention at all, def wasn't a special moment!
