Reception Playlist

Keona, on July 13, 2018 at 12:18 Posted in Wedding reception 0 9
Hey! My fiancé and I are discussing a reception playlist. We want to go with a modern pop/rock theme, maybe a bit of country. We want all of the songs to be focused on love, but I’m not much of a music geek, and he’s more into hip-hop/rap, so we don’t know a lot of songs in the category we’re going for. I also have lot of very conservative family and friends that I don’t want to offend with my music choices... haha. Does anyone have any song or artist recommendations that fit this criteria? Thank you so much for any help!!

Great idea for playlist! Another option you have is to ask your guests for song requests so you know that everyone will atleasthave 1 song they'll love! If lots of people are more conservative, then you'll wnd up with a great playlist based on their likes and you can add to it from there. We are having song requests 2ith our RSVP and will be making a page on our website for it.

I've been putting together the same thing! Honestly just do what I do and google top 50 songs for weddings and you can specify the genre too! (We love EDM so we're trying to get some of those vibes in our list too!)

It's also a good idea to make a DO NOT PLAY list... because there are a lot of too aggressive songs out there or songs about breakup and who wants that at a wedding?

Also do not play Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines... gross and horrible song it's number 1 on my do not play.

For Pop/Rock I would definitely suggest U2. I also think Journey: Open Arms and Bon Jovi: Thank You for Loving Me would be good choices.

Are you having a DJ? If you're having a DJ service, they usually do better without a set playlist... just suggestions, favourite artists, and maybe do-not-play list...

If you're creating your own playlist... I would just start googling... Find every list of "pop wedding songs" "upbeat love songs for weddings" "country wedding songs" "ultimate reception playlist" etc...

It will give you LOTS of songs that you probably forgot about, and you can pick and choose, to start building your playlist. Then it can inspire you to similar songs, artists, etc.

Don't worry about all of the songs being focused on love... when it comes time to dance (if you're having dancing), people do just like the upbeat dance music (which you can definitely find pop/rock songs that aren't trashy or vulgar, to not offend anyone)

    Good luck!
