Reception Hall - what to expect when booking

Thanks so much to everyone for your feedback! I went to the venue over the weekend and it was smoothe sailing! Everything we want and more will be included and we are on cloud nine and counting down the days 🙂

Hey Sabrina! Did you end up going in to sign with a hall? If so how did it go?

It looks like everyone covered the basics! I would also ask about the venue's drop-off policies. For example, what's the earliest a vendor could drop off décor? Are they able to keep the décor overnight or will it have to be cleared out post-reception? Is there a "bridal room" included in your package wherein you could store gifts to prevent theft?

Other questions to consider:
- Does the venue provide an Event Planner? If so, what is the extent of their involvement?
- Do they charge a cake cutting fee?
- If they cater and you decide to go with them: Are the gratuities included in package fee per person? Are they willing to cater to dietary restrictions? If so, is there an additional cost for that?
- If they do not cater: Do they charge an outside catering fee? If so, how much?

Along with Tori’s alcohol point (my family love to drink... hello polish people and their vodka!) but asking about what type of alcohol is included primium or just standard liquor. Also if they close the bar during the dinner.

What time everyone needs to be out of the venue!

Ask what the payment/deposit plans are. and when final numbers need to be submitted.

and what do they include (like linens/podium for speeches/table skirting for dessert/late night tables etc).

I would ask what all is included with the hall rental: things like parking, security, set-up and tear down/ anything else that the hall supplies such as alcohol (some places).

I would also ask about policies of putting up decorations, some places won't allow you to staple/thumb tack things to the wall, or use candles, or ban confetti/charge a clean up fee for using it.

Things to ask about: decor, price of alcoholic beverages as well as corkage fee (if they supply the bar-tending), do they help set up/ tear down, parking, security?

Obviously ask before starting the negotiations but those were our big things that we asked about. If hall has decor they are usually willing to throw it in if they can't accommodate with the other things such as parking.
