Reception Dress

Rebecca, on August 31, 2022 at 22:41 Posted in Wedding reception 0 17

Hello beautiful people!

What are your thoughts about having a wedding dress and a reception dress?

I thought it might be a good idea to have a different, cheaper dress for the reception so I can protect my wedding dress from any mishaps during dinner and dancing (you never know). Also something easier to move around in?

Is it necessary?

What styles would you suggest?

Cocktail length for easier movement and more party vibe, or keep it floor length to stay bridal?

Let me know!

Cheers Smiley smile

I stayed in my dress, I agree with Carine, I paid way too much to only wear it for 30-40 mins. I was wondered about spills, but I managed to keep my dress clean the entire night despite all the crazy dancing. The only thing is ofc my train is littered with footprints lol, but a good dry clean can fix that!

I have not considered this...but now that I have read these comments maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to have a 2nd one just incase something happens .. like spilled red wine on me, or too tight after dinner, or too hot... hmmmm.... you've got me thinking!

It is all up to you, many brides do two dresses, I paid too much for my dress to just wear it for 40 minutes, I plan to party in it, if it gets dirty I know a good drycleaner to take care of.

My cousin bought 3 dresses and they all looked great and she doesn't regret it at all. the two last ones she made them into summer dresses so she can wear them all summer.

I did this! Best choice I made. I was so warm in my wedding dress and I switched into a short satin dress. Kept me cool and was much easier to dance in. I got mine from David's bridal right off the rack! Very affordable.

I’m definitely leaning towards a flowy dress as well!

I am doing this! I ended up buying a white bridesmaid dress from azazie in white! It was 90 bucks! So pretty cheap in my opinion!
My wedding dress is very tight so I bought a second dress with a slit and flowy so I can move around freely after dinner!

I’m debating whether to stay similar style to my wedding dress which is romantic white lace, or go with something opposite like a bold red fun cocktail dress.
I really just want a dress that I can also wear for other occasions.

I am thinking about changing but just for late night dancing to avoid any mishaps.
I bought a vintage 1950s short white dress, but I’ve gotta do some fit adjustments and I want to add off the shoulder tulle sleeves. I’ll be doing the alterations IF I have time before the wedding

    Thank you Everyone.

I think if I could find a second, more casual and affordable dress I might just go for it!

I think this is becoming a more common thing than not, but really comes down to your preference and possible your dress style. if you have a very fitting dress, changing might be nice. But if its a nice flowy type dress, might be okay to wear all night.

Ive even seen alot of people just getting into comfy clothes in general. I had a girlfriend put on a beautiful romper after but also have seen people get into pretty pajamas, cocktail dresses, pant suits, ect.

Your day - do it! I bought a simple white jumper from the Bay to get into later. Didn't break the bank and if I wind up not wearing it, can always wear it another time.

I think it's a great idea! Personally, I would go with a nice high/low style dress-in white of course!

I think if you want to wear two dresses on your wedding day, do it! It's your wedding day!

I know I stayed in my dress all day because I couldn't imagine getting into another one since I loved my first dress wayyy to much!

But it is a thing a lot of brides are doing these days with having a second dress for the reception.

A lot of people do this. Brides in some cultures have multiple outfit changes throughout the day. If it's in your budget, go for it!

As for style, it's pretty much what you want. Some people purposely pick something different to have a distinct look and style from their wedding dress.
