Receiving line

Marsha, on May 18, 2022 at 16:32 Posted in Wedding reception 0 12

I am planning out my timeline for the day for our wedding. I don't know if we have allocated time for a receiving line. We take our pictures from 5:30 until about 7pm while they are having a cocktail hour. my thoughts they will all be seated after cocktail hour as we make our way back from pictures, then we will do our grand entrance at 7pm

thoughts anyone

thanks

Well being on this site has been helpful. it appears a lot of the brides have about 1hr to take photos after their ceremony. so i dont feel so much pressure anymore., we will make it work

We are not planning a receiving line either- our ceremony is at 4, then pics until 5ish. With the sun going down earlier in the fall, we want to get as many photos in as possible. To ensure we connect with each guest we will visit with each table during dinner.

We ended up cutting the receiving line from our timeline - Depending on your guest count, it can be extremely time consuming and unpredictable and can easily throw off the rest of your timeline. We visited each table in between courses instead Smiley smile

If you want to try and do it, you can do it prior to the ceremony. You won't be a part of it since you have to be in hiding but the groom and your bridal party can run the receiving line. It's done a lot in many church weddings.

Doing it during or after the cermony wont work either because we have to rush off to take our pictures. i think its not as important as it used to be. now that am thinking and speaking more about it.

    i appreciate your input Hank

Yea see, i was offered to do our pictures before as well, but am such a sap and prefer to have my FH see me walk down the aisle than do a first look. Logisitically it really works better, but i cant wrap my head around it. I will be doing pictures b4 by myself and with my bridal gals so this way after the ceremony we will have 1hr and a bit do just focus on couple shots and some fam shots

i think we will not do a receiving line and over the dinner hour we can take time and say hi to each guests.

    thanks for your reply

We aren't doing a receiving line at all but we will go and welcome each guest during the cocktail hour. All of our pictures are going to be done before the ceremony

It's hard to run a receiving line during cocktail hour if you're planning on using the opportunity to take photos. Would you be open to a receiving line during the ceremony instead of the reception?
