Real candles vs. led candles

Veronica, on October 26, 2020 at 16:35 Posted in Wedding reception 0 7

Hi everyone,

I love the look of lots of candles as decorations in the reception venue and creating a romantic warm glow. However, I've heard that some venues do not allow real candles because of the risk of a fire. What are your thoughts on using LED candles instead?

I want to have a hanging orb centerpiece similar to this look below, but I'm not sure if the LED tealight candles would be too noticeable.

What do you think?

Safety is definitely a top priority, and it's understandable that some venues have restrictions on real candles due to fire risks. LED candles can be a fantastic alternative in such cases!

These are all good points. Especially less risk of a fire accident and the fact that you don't need to worry about them burning out. I just need to find some realistic looking ones now.

On the LED train! They are so much safer and you can get the kind that flicker. Also, you don't have to worry about them blowing out so one less thing to keep on top of!

We will be having LED candles because our venue doesn't allow real. I personally don't think there is a huge difference between the two except that the LED are a lot safer (especially with alcohol around)

My fiance and I are using LED candles for our wedding next summer. We could use real candles if we wanted to but we decided to opt out on that. That way we don't have to worry about them burning out too fast.

While I don't personally have enough experience with candles to speak with authority, I can say that from a theatre background, where we always "fake it till we make it", there is going to be so many beautiful things going on that this detail isn't something people will likely be going out of their way to notice.

There are some incredibly realistic LED tealights available on the market. A major benefit will be not having to worry about any of them burning out too quickly.
Whatever you choose to do, I look forward to seeing how the centerpiece turns out! It's a beautiful idea!

Our venue allows real candles as long as they are in glass holders. We had all real candles in glass hurricanes, but if I were hanging them I could use battery operated ones. You can get some great realistic led ones these days.
