Raising Money

Krystle, on July 9, 2019 at 12:51 Posted in Before the wedding 0 5
Hey Everyone! I know growing up I was always told the father of the bride pays for the wedding, however my father has made it clear he dose not want to help. Any ideas for raising money for the big day? Stag&Doe games ect.. My FH and I are fairly young and dont have much in the way of saving so any suggestions help

    Congrats on the engagement!!

To be honest I'm not sure of many people who get help from their parents anyways - we're living in more modern of times.

I'm 21 and my FH is 29 and we juuuuust bought a house last July so I completely get where you are coming from with the not having much money for a wedding :/

I had a Wedding Social (similar to a Stag&Doe but without games and with more prizes and more drinking and dancing) in March of this year. Here's a link to my discussion: Wedding Social Complete!

Like the others said, you will have to pay for the venue (community centre cost me $850), DJ ($500), booze ($5,000) but there will be major profit if you have the friends and family!! Our social hall holds 295 people and we made out with serious profit (just over $10,000). Of course if you ask around some Stag & Doe's when not done right or if they are lacking the people wanting to attend - will end up just costing you money.

I agree that a stag and doe/raffles do help with costs/make money for the wedding. Another thing to think about is finding places in the wedding budget where you can cut costs - most times the reception venue/catering/bar can cost the most so definitely look at money-saving options!

I agree with Becky. If you have a lot of people, then a stag and doe would be beneficial, but you do have to have some money up front to get everything started. I know a couple people who have done raffles, and then did a Facebook live to draw the winner.

    Hi Krystle!

Welcome to wedding wire and congratulations Smiley smile

For a buck and doe- you will need money for deposits and items before hand usually costs few grand. If you know lots people in community you could get raffle prizes donated by local business. You also will need help of wedding party too.

If you rather something with less stress- I would suggest doing raffle tickets- theres normally 3 prizes and or even just one prize thats $500 value either booze or cash or some time of item. You can sell these and still make a chunk of money.
