Raffles and Draws

Kateyn, on March 2, 2021 at 20:16 Posted in Before the wedding 0 2
My partner and I are getting married in August of this year. Since it's a COVID wedding and we are limited in having get together a, we are think of doing some raffles and draws instead. When would be a good time to get them started? How long would you leave them open for? What could we do other than a 50/50 or booze draw? How many of these things do we do since there is no for and doe that would have multiple options? And how is everyone else going about this?

Hey Kateyn, that's super interesting. I was thinking of this too! (But I didn't know that it was illegal? Are there cases when it's not illegal or could be modified so that it's fully legal?)

What did you have in mind Kateyn? As a honeymoon fun kind of thing, or how did you link this to COVID? Would love to hear more what you had in mind.

You actually can't run any type of raffle or draw as it's illegal. Only charities can get a license from the alcohol and gaming commission to run one. Normally people get away with running raffles and draws at stag and doe events because the price of admission comes with food, drink, and entertainment. Online/electronic games of chance also come with much stricter scrutiny by the AGCO and you can be fined heavily for it.
