Hi there! I would love to know more about this - my fiancé and I are having trouble figuring out how to have a ceremony that honours both of our families/religions. I’m Jewish and he is catholic. Thank you Smiley smile

We had the same issue, i am catholic and my hubby jewish. We actually used a reverand who himself was married into the jewish faith so was very well versed in the relion. Let me know if that is something you are interested in?

Hi Cassandra, are you in Toronto too? I’ve found that pretty much only a cantor would marry is, and different ones have different expectations from the couples they marry. One of the cantors we contacted implied we should join their shul and meet with them 7x prior to marrying us, and another cantor said we only need to meet once for 1.5 hours. Prices have ranged from about $500-$1700. What have you found so far?

    HI Emma,

I found this discussion, but haven't found a reformed rabbi. Do you have any leads on one who will marry us? My fiance is jewish however i'm not and we're not incorporating all of the traditions, just some. Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Cassandra

    Hi Erin,

    thanks for the reply,

so far, my fiances congregation will not do the wedding because they are orthodox.

The community centre I have sent an email and called, no word from them yet.

I have reached out to over 20 rabbis, that are reform or other, but they are either booked or will not do it.

2 popular cantors, cantor staiman and cantor kaufman are also booked already.

It seems the only way to find someone in Toronto is by referrals

Have you asked at your local temple? That would be a good place to start. You could also go to a Jewish community center or something similar.
