Quetions for vendors

Allyah, on October 7, 2019 at 11:36 Posted in Before the wedding 0 8
Hi ladies, I have been looking through the discussion board for questions to ask vendors (specifically the venue), however, we are wanting to get married in a church and I have not seen anyone asking about it. So my question is first just questions to ask vendors in general, and also for any brides that have gotten married or have booked their church yet if there are any questions specific to a church that should be asked?

Thank You in advance for your advice Smiley smile

This was my list for my chuch (im catholic)

What time should the ceremony start?

    How long will it be?

    Can we decorate the pews?

What time can the décor come and set up?

    How much does it cost?

Are the guys who sing included?

    Is music included?

If not, how much is music and the singers?

Are there any set up fees?

What other fees are there? Ie what will the total cost be?

    Do we pick the readings?

Is there a sound system with adequate speakers or will that need to be rented?

    Can I schedule a rehearsal?

    When can I schedule it?

how many hours will we have the site for the rehearsal?

Does the venue have liability insurance?

What is the ceremony site fee?

What is the payment / deposit policy?

    Any photo or video restrictions?

Is there an area we can get ready before everything starts?

What do we need to be beforehand?

When do we provide you with the marriage licence?

Is there any other paperwork required? If so can we bring it the day before?

Do we have an option to say our own vows or no?

Can we stay and do some photos outside the church?

For vendors in general, the biggest/most obvious question to ask is: are they available for your day/location.

Each vendor will have different questions that will either apply to them or not but here's some common ones:

    - What do you wear for weddings? (photographers, videographers, DJs, officiants, day-of coordinators)
    - Do you deliver, and is there a separate fee? (Florists, cake)
    - Are you able to do... (Florists, hair and makeup)
    - How long does set up/tear down take? (photographers, videographers, DJs, florist/decorator)
    - Have you worked at my venue before? (Pretty much any vendor)
    - Is there any restrictions we should know about? (Officiants, church venues, reception venues)
    - Are you responsible for tear down or are we? (reception venues, decorators, day-of coordinator)
    - What is the plan if you cannot make our event last-minute (due to sickness, etc)? (Photographers, videographers, DJs, officiants, day-of coordinator)
    - Do you require a meal? (Photographers, Videographers, DJs, day-of coordinator)
    - What is your payment policy? (pretty much all vendors)

I'm not getting married in a church, but here is some things that I'd ask:

    - Is there restrictions on wedding dress, music, readings, etc? (some churches don't allow strapless gowns, or music is limited to being played on the organ)
    - Will the priest/minister/etc. marry us? (Most cases, the church's priest/minister will do the marrying, I believe)
    - What days can we get married? (Most won't do Sunday weddings)

I think the most important is to ask about any restrictions in the church - that way you know if they are a good fit for what you want.

Okay, yeah me and my Fiance are the same religion so we won't have any problems there.

    Thank you though!

If you're of different religious backgrounds (like my FH and I are) there's a bit more to do and a bit more paperwork, and a bit more priest meetings.

But aside from that, we haven't had any real issues.

Hey! We booked with a church.

so, ask what the fee is obviously and what it includes. Ask if you need to do anything prior to the ceremony (we had to do marriage courses; meet with a priest; provide baptismal certificates, etc.)

Also determine whether they provide ceremony decor or if you can (our church does the flowers and stuff so we get no choice).

thats all I can think of right now!
