Projector and screen

Hank, on June 16, 2021 at 21:32 Posted in Wedding reception 0 4

Is anyone using a projector and screen to showcase either a video or a photo slideshow at their wedding? I see it at weddings all the time and was wondering how many here will be doing it. Sometimes wedding couples will direct guests' attention to the screen in between courses and watch a 3-5 minute slideshow accompanied by a song but I think I'll just keep it silent and on loop throughout the whole reception.

If you're doing a backyard wedding, you can always use a large screen TV. You can also get those mini projectors for cheap (or borrow one from work if you're able to) and project on a white sheet.

I've also seen video used as a tribute to passed loved ones. And with covid still being a thing, video could also be a way for close relatives who cannot attend to deliver a personalized video message to play at the reception.

I wish we could do this but we are so bad at remembering to take photos together, we only have a handful after being together 4 years, and I don't have access to my baby photos so I'm not sure what we could put in place of those.

That's fair. That's why we're just kind of keeping it on loop as a backdrop instead of making it an event during the reception ie. NOW IT'S TIME TO LOOK AT OUR PHOTOS!!!

In my personal opinion the photo slideshows get boring super quick. Most people don't want to be forced to look at baby pictures and "our first photo together" selfies. Videos are slightly better, if its messages from people who cannot attend, like you said. My friends played a short "love story" movie that they recorded during their engagement photoshoot, which was well edited and truly felt like a short film, so that was interesting.
