Processional & Recessional Songs

Geoff, on October 31, 2018 at 23:43 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 7

We're having a really hard time deciding which songs to have as our processional and recessional songs, we know for sure that we want "All is Full of Love" by Björk to be the song we walk down the aisle to and the original plan was to have the end of the same song play at the end when we walk back. I worry about the timing though, guests will have already heard that song so the recessional might not have as much impact? The other song I had in mind was "Unison" by Björk for the recessional but it is a little slower paced compared to the first one... Thoughts?

That’s very considerate of you lol. I went to a wedding in early October once (in Winnipeg) where the bride and groom were ambitious enough to have the ceremony on the beach. Thankfully it was unseasonably warm that weekend!

It’s indoors, still a little too cold out I think, I would feel bad making my guests suffer! Smiley tongue

Those are such unique choices! I love Zelda's Lullaby and that Björk song is so interesting! Is your ceremony indoors or outdoors?

A little over 2 weeks away and I think we’ve decided now. We chose to use “Zelda’s Lullaby” (Orchestral Version) for our processional and Jóga by Björk for our recessional. My fiancé loves the Legend of Zelda so it’s pretty much perfect and I love Björk so I really want to use one of her songs. I think Jóga is a little more upbeat than the other 2 I originally chose.

Hey Geoff, did you make a decision on what song you'll have during your ceremony?

Personally I'd keep looking for a more upbeat song for the recessional, and I would do 2 different songs... You just got married! It's time to celebrate now! Something more lively/upbeat will help keep the mood up.

I do think that it is a bit slow and sombre for walking the recessional as you just got married and IMO it should be upbeat and vibrant but so is the first song. However, if the only thing you were worried about was the use of the same song twice then I would say it's okay to do so.
