Polaroid Guest Book

Noel, on May 2, 2018 at 11:35 Posted in Wedding reception 0 9

Okay ladies, and gentlemen(if there are any on here),

I'm having a country wedding, and marrying into a bit of a wild and redneck family. Cannot wait. I'll fit right in. We're having a relatively casual feel to the evening, and I've seen several Polaroid guest book ideas, I would love to do this. There will be many kids and seniors at the wedding and this will be a fun way to look back on them from that time(I think). I have someone to run the camera and ensure the content stays PG.

I'm looking for pros and cons of this idea and any preference of polaroid camera, or ones to avoid.

We are doing that! The only con is making sure you ahve enough film strip, and making sure that someone doesn't use it for personal use instead of the guest book. We plan to assign one of my brother's to keep an eye on it and assist in taking photos.

My sister-in-law did this for her wedding. I was actually in charge of the photos for a while. I never went back to the station after dinner though, as I wanted to dance, and people ended up taking all the photos (or taking inappropriate ones) and didn't leave the bride and groom any. I would suggest you either hire someone for the night to be with the camera or just have it during the cocktail hour and take it away later.

The camera that Jennifer posted is the exact one she had at her wedding.

I think it’s a great idea! We are doing along the same lines. We rented a photo booth, so we will have a sign and a book with pens. Along this line. I think it’s a fun alternative a regular guest book

I actually plan to have it announced but around 10 will put the camera away to evade drunken photos.

Haha we are in such similar situations! I’m also marrying into a wild red neck family and having a country wedding, we’re also doing a Polaroid guest book. We have two cameras and I just have to get extra film and batteries. No one is running ours I trust them to do the right thing! We actually rented the cameras from our decorator so much cheaper only $20 each. We’re using the Fuji film ones. They’ll be set up on a table as ppl enter the tent and we also have a little photo back drop/booth.

I love this idea too! It's something I've been strongly considering as well!!

It's been mentioned perfect below, amazon is probably your best bet (or a staples when they have a sale on) for the camera, I have used the Fujifilm ones they are awesome!!

But yes for a wedding for suuuuure buy photos in bulk as they can get pricey really quick! I liked the idea below about the MC saying there is 1 photo per person, or multiple if in a group!

Be sure to have someone man the camera tho because yeah who knows what can happen after a few drinks hahaha!

You can also get super cute boards for people to put the photos up after! Big collage board to add to!

We’re doing this too! Yeah, make sure you have extra film and batteries. I went to a wedding where the camera ran out of batteries. The fujifilm instax cameras are the most common. You can get those cameras for less than $100 (and if you buy an inpopular colour on amazon you can get it for even less). The film is about $1 per picture, but if you buy in bulk from Amazon you can get a bit of a discount. At a wedding I went to recently they had their MC announce that there was enough film for one per guest, but if they took pictures with multiple people in them they could take more...most people won’t want to do a picture by themselves anyway. So you can make it work. We’re putting out some double sided tape and some coloured Washi tape as well so our guests can be creative with the guest book.

I love that idea and it really is a great keepsake. We were considering this but with a large wedding the amount of film we would need would be unrealistic. This is really the only bid con to this idea. I would check to see how many pictures come in a pack of film for each camera before you make a final pick. Some only take 10 pics per set of film and the cost per photo can be expensive (upwards of $1.00 / picture).

i would agree having someone sit there to oversee things is a must. Also have lots of extra film on hand. I love the idea of having the photos of guests as this is something you will probably look at a lot more than the convention book of well wishes and signatures.

If you can see how the pictures turn out for each camera. Some will print pictures with a more retro and aged look to them while others are more clean and crisp. So depends on what you want.

I think one thing you need to consider, definitely, is to plan for people to take more than one shot. So having tons of extra film (and batteries) should be a must.

I think this idea is great! It encompasses both generations: older people have a flashback to their youth and kids think is the coolest old thing ever - and they're great mementos to save.
