Picking the venue

Stephanie, on February 4, 2020 at 22:24 Posted in Wedding reception 0 14
We haven't gone out to look at venues yet, but I have found one venue that I have absolutely love from the pictures. Has anyone fallen in love with a venue and just picked one with out shopping around?

We did! We knew what we wanted and had researched places before. I also brought people with us and asked opinions of other people who got married. In my opinion if you like the venue, it matches your budget, and you trust who you’re working with there I don’t see the need in seeing a bunch! So happy with our decisionSmiley smile

We did tons of researching online before finding a venue that seemed to have every single thing we were looking for. Their customer service was exceptional, the contact there replied to every email we sent within 5 minutes, even when it was 11:30 at night! When we went to see it, it was exactly as we’d hoped (even better really!) and was within our budget, so we just went for it without seeing anywhere else. I think if you’re unsure of a place, or it’s missing some things on your ideal list, then shop around for sure. But if you find something that feels right and is exactly what you’re looking for, go for it! Dates get snapped up fast.

The first tour we booked was with the venue that we wanted. Going to the booking and seeing the space was nice, especially comparing it to photos. My fiance and I were really unsure for 4 months because of budget so we looked at other venues and discussed what we really wanted from a venue. Ultimately, we went with the first venue because even though it was more expensive, it was private and we don't have to set up chairs, tables, hire a ton of vendors, etc.

Morale of the story, I'm glad that we looked at other less-expensive options because after we did, we were more certain about going with the more-expensive venue.

Yes...kinda. We got engaged on Christmas, and began looking at venues (online) in January. I had reached out to one venue for pricing but they were not very forthcoming, and they took a long time to get back to me, so I wasn't sold on them by any means.

I had googled "Winnipeg garden wedding" as we wanted to be outdoors, and this STUNNING venue came up in the search. I had never heard of it before, but it was so beautiful. I reached out for pricing and availability, and asked if we could come see it. But because its an outdoor venue, and it was the dead of winter, they didn't have anything for us to look at really. So we booked it. Sight unseen. Just from photos and reviews. We got to see it in person that spring at their open house. Our wedding was in September, and our friends still comment on how beautiful our wedding venue was.

So yeah, we didn't actually go and look at a single venue before booking lol. We just knew we wanted that one.

We looked at four venues in total, the one I loved was beautiful in pictures and when we saw it in person it was beautiful but the size of the property was overwhelming for us way to big for the small wedding we were having. The last venue we saw the picture online didn’t sell me didn’t look like much nothing special but when we got there we knew this was the one it was a hidden little gem and the host was top notch

Not me, but then again I can say that we picked out our venue based off looking at land and blueprints!! Lol The venue wasn't built yet when we first came across our venue at a wedding show but we knew based on the type of people the owners were as well as their vision that the venue would be stunning! We had them on the list but we did go and physically see a couple venues first before seeing the worksite and more in depth plans and committing.

I looked at other venues but the one I picked was the only one that checked off all our important things. If you love it then get it. We actually only went to the one venue.

We picked ours before shopping around, but we still had backup venues to go to if we couldn’t afford it. Luckily for us, it was a perfect fit and we didn’t need to look anywhere else.

Our venue is where my office does out Christmas party every year, so when we started looking I reached out knowing they're more than a restaurant and can handle a bigger party.
The other contender was a theatre rehearsal space a friend had used, but once we started adding things up it was going to be too expensive to rent the space and tables and chairs and decor etc etc.
The only places in our city that have photos tend to be the most expensive places and they book up fast. Don't be afraid to think a little outside the box of the traditional venues if you aren't falling in love with them.

I researched venues online and when I came across our’s I already felt sold. We booked an appointment to visit and after that we knew that venue was for us and we didn’t need to look at any others. It was the only venue we visited.

Saw my venue on Instagram several years before getting engaged when it was newly opened. Emailed them first when we got engaged a few years later to get an idea of price point. They fit the budget and the style / look I wanted perfectly. So we booked a tour and booked it same day. Didn’t even look at other options - everything was perfect. Also super close to our apartment and most of our family is local.

Hello! Welcome to Wedding Wire & congrats on your engagement.

That was us! We actually visited our venue for brunch about two years before our engagement, and without saying it out loud we both had it in our heads from that day on that we would get married there. It had amazing food and was a beautiful location. So when we did get engaged, I did not even bother to look around. I just emailed the venue the next day and by the end of the week we had paid the deposit Smiley smile They say when you know, you know
