Photographer for rehearsal dinner?

Bekah, on August 19, 2019 at 21:51 Posted in Before the wedding 0 7

Did anyone have their photographer come to take pictures during their rehearsal dinner? There will be a fair amount of people attending as we are opening it up to whoever would like to come. We will be having a bbq at my parent’s house and my mom had the fun idea to hire him to come to take photos in a more casual setting. Then he can take some of the families there, our bridal party, etc.

Has anyone done this/seen this done? Just curious, would like to hear some experiences good and bad!!

We didn't have ours at our rehearsal dinner but I'm sure it's been done. If you can afford it, I think it's a nice thing to capture.

I've also never heard of this and we probably won't just because we know our photographer will be out late with us the following night. Plus, it's more casual and our MC has a good camera so we might ask him to get some shots that night.

If it's something you want to do, definitely ask your photographer if they'd be available and cost of covering the dinner. You'll definitely have to pay extra so make sure you have it in your budget. Another option is to ask someone you know with good photographer skills to come and take pictures (ideally someone who'd already be at the dinner).

If you can afford it and want that I don't see any reason why not. It's is always nice to have some family shots at any event

I've never heard of a photographer for the rehearsal dinner and we won't be doing that. We're at the venue for maybe 30 mins to rehearse quickly and then we're probably going back to my grandma's for dinner. We only have 1 BM and 1 GM aside from our MOH and Bestman, and his parents and my dad aren't coming for the wedding so it's a smaller party anyway. A photographer would just be awkward in our case. lol

I won’t be and I’ve never seen it before. I might ask a friend or family member to take photos, if anything.

Not a bad idea - but I won't be doing this. My photographer is already in for a long day the next night so I won't be. I will make sure to take my own pictures and selfies though!
