Outdoor rainy day engagement shoot?

Amyfanggg, on August 13, 2017 at 18:56 Posted in Before the wedding 0 10
Who has done a rainy day engagement shoot and how did it turn out? The day I booked for engagement shoot is forecasting 56% rain Smiley cry . I am hoping it is not too bad and photos would end up okay. If it pours then I don't really have a backup plan, other than shoot at my condo. My condo is small and I'm worried we won't get a lot of good shots!

    Our family!

our engagement photos were shot on the coldest day of the year! it was -45C and out photog was the only warm one because she was in a parka and snow pants! We had our Dogs with us and the poor things got cold too! But the photos turned out beautifully!

A good photographer will make beautiful memories with even the worst conditions!

Do it in the rain! You can get some awesome shots as long as your photographer is willing to be adventurous and do this. Here is an example from our shoot... we weren't in the rain but still got wet and made it look as though it was raining (we put water in the umbrella).

It didn't rain for our engagement shoot but it did rain on our wedding day and then right before the ceremony started, it stopped and it was perfect! Overcast days actually provide better lighting than sunny days so that's lucky for you! Check out Pinterest for lots of cute ideas for pictures and see if you can find a clear umbrella to use! I would brainstorm with your photographer and see if there are some locations in your area that have overhangs so you can still shoot outside, even if it's raining. We had a few locations like that in mind in case it rained on our wedding day. I'm not sure what type of location you are planning on shooting at but you should be able to find urban locations that have some covering for you. Or if you want rustic, maybe a park with a gazebo? Your photographer is a pro so don't be afraid to ask for their help!

I say just roll with it and have fun! It was supposed to rain on our engagement shoot day so I was googling to see what other people did. I saw a lot of photos from shoots that were so cute! If you bring a cute umbrella like a clear see-through one and some cute rain boots you can make the most of the situation. A lot of the photos I saw were so cute. They had pictures of couples splashing in puddles and dancing in the rain. It was very candid and romantic and fun! Have fun with your shoot Smiley catface

Photographers love overcast skies! The lighting is perfect because it's not too bright, but it's still outdoor lighting. It sounds like you may get overcast skies but no rain with that forecast, and then your pictures will be perfect! Even if it does rain, get yourselves some really cute umbrellas and embrace it! Chances are it will turn out to be a unique shoot!

It wasn't my engagement shoot... ours won't be until this upcoming September... but last fall, my mom got family photos done up. And it poured on us for a full hour out of the 2 we were out taking pictures for. And most of the pictures turned out really well. Some of the photos even had the streaks in them so you could tell it was raining! It just made the photos really unique. Here's one the photographer took of my fiancé and I at the shoot. It is currently my favourite photo of us!
