Out of province commissioner

Jasmine, on August 12, 2023 at 10:16 Posted in Alberta 0 1
Hello! I am very confused and starting to stress! My partner and i are from Alberta, getting married in Golden this september. We decided to have my uncle preform the wedding.. however with BC officiant rules he can not legally marry us. We are thinking about signing papers beforehand in alberta.
Has anyone done this before? Any tips? Is this actually doable?

Thank you!

Looks like to be officially married in BC you need to be married by a licensed commissioner, but on a reddit thread I started reading said that people get married by their family member at the ceremony, then they go to sign all the legal papers with the licensed commissioner. So it sounds like you could absolutely get married here in Alberta, sign the papers, then just do the ceremony in Golden BC.
