Order of events

Wondering what everyone does for order of events?

Our ceremony is at 1:30 Cocktails 5-5:45Entrance 5:45-6 Buffet style supper 6 Cake cutting after supper

But do you do speeches before or after supper? Any wedding I’ve been to they will do speeches first but people are starving by that point so I’m thinking supper then cake (or Supper, speeches then cake then dance) and then parents speeches, BM, MOH, us, then our slideshow and then father daughter dance, our first dance and then begin the actual dance portion of the night...
Has anyone done it like this, or what are your recommendations?
Thanks!

Do speeches after the dinner but before the cake! Cake is usually seen as an "acceptable" time to start to leave, so if people have cake, they may think that there are no speeches and start leaving (if they're older and/or don't want to stay for the party)!

My best suggestion is to do speeches during dinner. Head tables and the "VIP" tables get served first. So what I had my MC do was keep an eye out for when the people doing the speeches were done eating and then they would be called up. 9/10 times, they were done eating before the last table had food served, so people were still sitting and eating.

I had my dad do his speech first, then our dance, and then my in laws gave their speech, then the mother son dance.

We had speeches as soon as the last table grabbed their food because by then the people giving speeches have eaten but others aren't as well as nobody is wanting to move after such a good meal.

Ys timeline is actually a little weird since we wanted to use the cake for dessert so cake cutting ended up being moved up super high.
    We’re doing:
Grand entrance First dance Appetizers Cake cutting Entree (speech throughout dinner and dessert) Parent dances Dancefloor opens.
It really depends on the flow of the ceremony that you want, I personally prefer speeches during dinner. A lot of the weddings I've been to are doing speeches throughout dinner because it's a real time saver.

I’ve seen people do speeches during dinner - which is what we’re going to do.

The dances we will do after the parents speeches (ie my parents will speak then I’ll dance with my dad, FHs parents will speak then my FH will dance with his mom).
