Open bar cost

Tania, on March 5, 2019 at 22:53 Posted in Wedding reception 0 4
Hi I’m looking at a venue that offers the option of bringing your own alcohol with a permit. But have no idea how much to budget for an open bar for about 100 people probably closer to 80 over 18. Any ideas are helpful

Hey that sounds about right!! We just factored in some extra drinks because we don’t want to run out middle of reception 😂 our venue has a no shots policy so we are gonna lean towards wine and beers instead. Quick question, how are you planning to bring all the alcohol to the venue? Having trouble planning that part!

Hi Tania. Congratulations on your engagement Smiley ring and a big welcome to the WeddingWire community.

Heather and Tori have both provided lots of great insights and estimations for open bars!

This article from the WeddingWire ideas section is also super helpful, it covers all aspects of having an open bar - Wedding Bar and Cocktails 101

Do you have a wedding venue in mind? Are you still looking at options?

Hi! We are having approx 100 guests and have budgeted $2500 for alcohol. Providing our own liquor and permit. Just paying the corkage fee at our venue.

Woah!! Wedding Day Twin AAAAAND from Manitoba!?!?!? Crazy! lol

For all the venues that I looked at it seems that in order to bring your own booze you will need a venue that doesn't already have a permit (which is few and far between!).

Your best bet would to have your wedding at a hall and getting your own permit.

If you are open to changing your date to 2020 and go outside the city - I am having my wedding at Rivers Edge Resort in Elma MB (45 min. outside the perimeter).

As for budgeting, booze should cost roughly $2,500 I think, we are having an Open Bar and we will probably spend $5,000 (our guest count is 250).

P.S. Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the WW community!
