Ontario/alberta Honeymoon Ideas?

Patricia, on January 13, 2021 at 20:06 Posted in Honeymoon 1 13

We are getting married in October 2, 2021. I am not convinced we will be able to leave the country for a honeymoon. We will be staying in Ontario if need be (depending on restrictions). Otherwise we are thinking of going to Alberta/ out west!

We do not want to break the bank.

There are some ideas for Ontario we are considering: Renting a cottage, a few nights at Niagara Falls/Niagara on the lake. We were thinking couples resort, however they are booked up for the weeks following our wedding. Any ideas will help.

Banff and surrounding area is beautiful. My FH went to Banff/Lake Louise in February. Flights were pretty cheap and our hotel was included in the vacation package. We spent about $1200 total for round trip flights and 5 night accommodations.

We stayed in Baker Creek Lodge which is just outside Lake Louise. There is limited cell service and crappy wifi but it was a perfect way to disconnect and be present with each other. They offer little cabins or hotel style rooms. It is surrounded by hiking trails and you have mountain views from the rooms. It is about 40 mins from Banff where there is plenty to do and 15 mins from Lake Louise which also has many beautiful options. Then you could also pop up to Jasper which is a 3 hour drive but the road is considered one of the world's most beautiful drives.

Here is some pictures from our stay!

We are going to the Bruce peninsula/Tobermory for our honeymoon in July. We have a room overlooking the water. Lots of beautiful sights to see and snorkelling.

I always pictured having a honeymoon in wells grey provincial park in Clearwater bc. It is absolutely gorgeous and they have different options as you drive up the roads. There’s ranch b&b’s and fancy ones too. There are cabins as well. It’s on the same road that takes you through Jasper too so it’s not too bad.

My favorite road trip I did a few times when I lived in Alberta was driving back and forth from grande prairie to Vancouver because it’s not a very long drive but there’s a ton to do in between.
Potentially you could fly into Vancouver, rent a car and explore the area maybe take a ferry to the island and back lol
And then the drive is super quick from Vancouver you are like 3 1/2 hours from Kamloops. You would see a sign for Jasper and turn there.
Clearwater is directly on the drive there. I think it’s maybe 3 ish hours from Kamloops. Spend some time there and then drive a couple hours further and you hit Jasper.
Jasper is expensive though I recommend staying around Miette hot springs overnight though because it’s quite a bit cheaper and still has the same mountain vibe as Jasper. Plus $7 to sit in a hot tub breathing beautiful mountain air is pretty nice!
From there you are about 2 1/2 hours from Edmonton where you could go to west Ed and then return your rental car
Lol writing that out is literally me dreaming about going on a road trip 🤣

If you're considering Niagara, you might as well come to Toronto! Our food is way better and there's more to do.

If you come out to Alberta, check out Banff or Jasper! There's so many things to do in our beautiful rockies!

    Couple of ideas for Banff:

Hotels - The Fox Hotel And Suites, Fairmont Banff Spring, The Moose Hotel, The Delta

Lake Louise! Which is only an about 40 minute drive from Banff.

    Banff Springs

Banff Gondola is also a beautiful view from the top of the mountain

Here's a few ideas for Jasper:

Hotels - Jasper Park Lodge, Pyramid Lake Resort

    Jasper Skytram

Jasper Skywalk in the Columbia Icefields

    Athabasca Falls

    Maligne Lake

    Maligne Canyon
