Officiant help!!

Katherine, on August 27, 2022 at 12:27 Posted in Wedding ceremony 1 4
Our micro wedding is coming smoothly, but we’re having a hard time sourcing an officiant. We want a friend/family member for a few reasons:
- we like the intimacy of no strangers there
- it’s free and easy to be granted the officiant status where we’re getting married- the only officiant available near our date is not my favourite and $650 😅

We’re having a hard time narrowing down who could officiate our wedding. We want it to be someone we’d probably invite nonetheless, that is mutually loved and close by my partner and I, and that will stay close to what our vision is.
We’re so stumped. Has anyone had someone close to them officiate their wedding?? Any tips/tricks?!
Thank you!!

The laws are different in all provinces, we wanted a friend to be our officiant at our wedding and that is apparently not a thing anymore, US only. Now we have to pay an officiant.

I highly agree with you! When deciding who would perform our ceremony we were down to two people. Ultimately we decided on the person who has experience with speaking and performing in front of a crowd.

One thing I would add is someone who is decent at public speaking. If they're no good at speaking in front of a crowd, that will affect the vibe of the wedding for you and your guests.
