Officiant ?

Jessica, on January 22, 2018 at 01:41 Posted in British Columbia 0 2

I want to have a family member be the officiant for the wedding. He has done it in another province but how or can we do it in BC ? Does anyone know a website or place to contact? How do I go about it..

We’re based in Toronto but are getting married in Victoria.

The morning of the wedding, we’ll have a commissioner do a very basic/bare bones ceremony and then later on in the day my mother will be the celebrant of the day. So we’re basically getting married twice...once legally, and later in the day, unofficially in front of guests.

Unfortunately, in BC, you can't just 'become' a wedding commissioner. I know because I looked into this for my wedding. This is where I got the info from: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/life-events/marriages/marriage-commissioners/becoming-a-marriage-commissioner
