Officially Postponed Wedding-new September Bride

Cassie, on April 2, 2020 at 09:35 Posted in WeddingWire 0 20
Hello! So my May 23 wedding is no more. I am now getting married September 6, 2020. Has anyone else postponed to September or are in September and how do you feel? I do hope it has backed off enough by then: the majority of the summer has gone by which may help with the peak and Ontario is taking about slowly opening things June 30 so that gives me a 2 month buffer. It’s so sad but at least I feel excited again and hopeful.

Exactly! Mine being around 150-180 makes it harder but hopefully they’ll slowly lift things starting in July. We need our licenses before anything else 🤣

Definitely was a big stress relief! Ours is about 60 so we are hoping that they will slowly start lifting the restrictions and reopening city hall for marriage licenses so we can proceed with our new date 🤞🏼

Hey! Yep sounds like my older post. Haha. Definitely some tears have been shed on my end as well but it was definitely worth it. The stress has been lifted for the most part. I do hope our parties will work out! I assume they’ll slowly lift gatherings from 5 to 50 to 250 over a few weeks like they slowly banned it as a process. So we should be far enough that it should work. My wedding is around 180 people. 🤞🏻

Hey! I think I replied to you on your post previously about your May 23rd wedding! I am an Ontario bride also who was supposed to get married on May 23rd and decided to postpone also to August 9th. It was a hard decision (definitely shed some tears 😭) but decided it was the best idea since they are projecting June/July for starting to lift some of the social distancing restrictions. Luckily our wedding is on the smaller side to begin with and then hopefully we can still go through with bridal events (shower, bachelorette/bachelor parties etc) 🤞🏼

Ya that would have to be a big cut !... We only have like 90 invited and half is family (which would get the priority invite) and the other half are friends and co workers who would get put on the B list and get invited once/if family RSVP no, all of out family would have to travel over a couple provinces so that might reduce who would come.

I think Ford is discussing projections in an hour or so for Ontario! Yikes we have a guest count of 180 people or so and I’m surprised that everyone is saying yes to the new date! I always assumed people would be busy on the long weekend but apparently not! I hope it goes up to 250 people haha!

Our postponed dates are also almost twinning 🤣 (the 12th is my first pick )... I've been hearing July as well... We are supposed to be hearing some projections and numbers next week... Before I send out another invitation I'll be wait to see what that has to say ... I'd be happy if it was lifted to 25 or 50 ppl lol I would have to make come cuts but I'm sure ppl would understand.

Aw we were originally wedding twins! I’m hoping it’s going to be okay by then as well. Ontario seems like things will be lock down until July. So that gives me a two month buffer after. So hopefully by September some restrictions will be lifted so we can have our day with our loved ones!

I'm a May 23rd Bride, my fiance and I are I'm the discussion of postponing our wedding until September 12th or 26th (the two dates available at out venue) so I'm in the same situation as you ! I'm not to heart broken about it since I originally wanted a September wedding and the Sunflowers will be in bloom 😍 ... I'm hoping that everything has settled down enough by then to have a wedding, if not I WILL NOT be postponing again I'll just be cancelling the whole thing all together and just eloping. The worst part about this is the unknown ! Not knowing if it will actually be ok or if we are still going to be on lock down !

Happy for you that you found a new date! September is a beautiful month. My wedding is end of June and thinking of postponing to September... but my venue is prioritizing April and May weddings right now.

I'm not sure how to ask guest if they can come. if we ourselves don't even know what is going on. I and hoping in the next three months things will be better.

I'm glad you're excited again! I've found that planning a bit for a backup plan has been a little more fun than I expected.

Our wedding is in October so we are cautiously optimistic about everything. I'm allowed to panic in July and until then I'm trying not to worry.

Ohhhhh! Yeah, I completely understand. It’s easier to spread them out but it is definitely tough knowing with this situation. I hope everything works out for you!

I hear you... I don’t think any of us could have imagined this. My bridal shower is scheduled for middle of May, and my bachelorette is scheduled for end of June. They are not far away, that is why I think they are in jeopardy. I think you are okay for your bach and shower end of August. I didn’t want to push mine to end of August because it’s just too much for people so close to the wedding.

Yeah it’s such a hard time financially! I hope this starts calming down soon. The world can’t afford to be on lockdown forever. I was hopeful about my bachelorette and bridal shower late August but after your comment, now I’m unsure again. This is not what I thought my bridal experience would be like.

Hi Cassie! I am a September bride. I feel okay. I know my events such as the bridal shower and my bachelorette are in jeopardy... I am also very torn because I know a lot of our guests (including our wedding party) are struggling financially right now. It just doesn’t seem right...
