Not really Feeling motived to plan Help!

Carrie, on December 30, 2020 at 13:59 Posted in Before the wedding 0 3

Hey Everyone

Is there anyone else that is feeling like this?

So our wedding is set for June 12 2021 in St Catharines about 100 guests . Just trying to put together invites and feeling kind of down as we not sure if we going to be able to have our wedding in June that we are wishing for because of covid. My fiancé and I have a big family so with even making our guest list smaller we still have about 50 people that are defiantly have to come to our wedding. We feel like we are being robed of our big wedding. How can I make planning our big day more enjoyable?

    Hi Carrie!!

We have the same date!!! Congrats to you and your FH!

Firstly, I am sooooo with you on your feelings. I have some days when all I have is optimism, and other days where I just worry myself into a panic. With the rollout of the vaccine ramping up soon, I am trying to stay optimistic that 100 guest weddings will be possible in June (while following some restrictions). I'm hoping this lockdown controls numbers.

Honestly, the only thing that helps me to stay excited and to plug away at planning is watching wedding videos on Youtube.... When I'm feeling down I search Ontario Weddings and filter it to videos posted in the past 6 months. It really makes you realize how beautiful and meaningful weddings with Covid restrictions can still be! Watching REAL love prevail, and seeing for myself what is possible during this time, is really what has kept me optimistic.

Hang in there, I'm with you!!

If the guest list size is that important to you, is postponing an option at all? Sure, you can wait it out and see if June 2021 will work for 100 people but it seems the anxiety is getting to you and you can't properly enjoy your engagement.

Take breaks. Have a day, at least, every week where you don't talk about or think about or plan your wedding. That whole absence makes the heart grow fonder can definitely apply to planning.

Is there something wedding related you enjoy or that relaxes you? For me it was wedding romcoms. I essentially made a pile of them to watch when I needed to get myself back into the wedding spirit. For some it's Pinterest boards or watching tiktok videos of people decorating wedding cakes.
Planning a normal wedding is stressful, planning a pandemic wedding can be absolutely horrendous. Take it one step at a time, ask for help whenever you can and accept help when people offer.
