No kids allowed decorating?

Mo, on September 8, 2021 at 08:42 Posted in Before the wedding 0 3
So one of my very dear and close friends is helping us with decorating the hall we have our wedding at one night prior. She plans to bring her tween son to the hall after she picks him up from school. I love her son. Im eternally his auntie. However i have a concern. Her son has a lot of behavioral issues. She tells me that he would love to help out but i want to tell her i dont want him to show up until the wedding next day. If he does show up which at this point seems like its final then i want to ask him to do his homework or soemthing else. I am a bit of a control freak when it comes to decorating. How do i tell him or her i dont need his help without hurting feelings?

Hmmm, in that case if it were me and this friend were really as close a friend as you say, I would be truthful.

I love [son] very much but would he be able to work on homework or a watch a movie? (Or would it be ok if he just was taken home by another family member.) Due to the amount of breakables I would feel more comfortable if just the adults were dealing with things. I just want to keep my stress as minimal as possible. I hope you understand.

My MOH and best friend's 10 year old (11 for wedding) is very similar. He's a great kid but doesn't have the greatest care or attention. I would 100% ask my MOH to leave him at home or with grandparents for the decorating.

Hi Stacey, No. Everything has been done. Everything that needs to be done has to be set up by an adult becuase it involves breakables. I could give him the card box to put on the table .lol

We are having a candy table but i dont want to ask him to help with that becuase he would probably ask to take candy and i dont have the heart to say no.

Is there a task you can give him that would have him be involved yet wouldn't be as important? What about making hotel bags or bathroom baskets?
