New Honeymoon Plans

Sam, on April 14, 2020 at 16:03 Posted in Honeymoon 0 14
We've officially decided to postpone our wedding and honeymoon to August of next year. We want to keep our money in the Canadian economy, so we've changed our honeymoon to an East coast road trip! I'm looking for recommendations on must see attractions, places to stay, eat, and any other hidden gems! The last time I was out east I was 7 years old, and my fiance has never been. Thanks ❤️

Seafood and rent an airbnb on a lake. imagine waking up with a lakefront view. you can also rent a car and check out all the touristy spots. there is lots of hiking, waterfalls, zipling and so much to do out there

Would highly recommend spending a day in Halifax, especially along the waterfront. Definitely hit up Cows Ice Cream in either Halifax of PEI - it is the best ice cream I've ever had. Cape Split in the valley is also really nice if you like to be outdoors Smiley smile

Love it out there! I highly recommend driving around Cape Breton, Peggy's Cove was great, Halifax is always a good time. We also really enjoyed whale watching on the New Brunswick side at St. Andrew's by-the-sea and the Hopewell Rocks. The beaches are beautiful in PEI and Cows ice cream is my favourite (you can find it across the East coast).

Have a great time and enjoy the planning process!!

How many days are you out there for?

I'm a hiker, so Cape Breton Island gave us lots of options to hike while enjoying beaches. I would recommend spending a few days here if you enjoy the outdoors. I spent one night on each side of the island. Bring binoculars! You can whale watch from the cliffs without paying to go on the boats. It's also a great way to get a scenic drive. The Alexander Graham Bell Museum is also on the Baddeck side of the island.

Peggys Cove, Wolfville, and Lunenburg are great for small town vibes while being reachable from Halifax for day trips. Check the Blue Nose schedule to see where they'll port when you're there.

If you have time and are a fan of lobster and dairy, spend a day or two in PEI (you won't need more than two days). Half of my luggage was filled with things from the Cows Store and Anne of Green Gable's Chocolate. You can bypass New Brunswick by going on the ferry in Nova Scotia to save travel time. You can park the car in the boat.

I'm from Saint John, New Brunswick and. So excited you're doing an easy coast road trip!

Saint John is the oldest incorporated city in Canada and was once a hub for English loyalist fleeing from the American revolution. There's some cool history here if that's your thing. The city has amazing bars and restaurants, you can also use it as a stopping point between scenic St. Andrews and the Fundy trail or the beaches in Shediac.
PEI and Nova Scotia are also beautiful. You could do a beach vacation in each province and have a different experience at each one.

The East Coast is by far my favorite place to go, specifically Nova Scotia! My mom's side is from there so as a kid, I went there every summer for like 15 years. I was just there a couple years ago and one place in Nova Scotia that is a must see is Lunenburg Nova Scotia - you can go whale watching, take a tour around the historical town and it's just such a nice little area to sit for lunch or a few drinks. Anther place in Nova Scotia is Peggy's Cove - the views are unreal and there is a great restaurant there that serves the BEST lobster! You also have to eat Rappie Pie - it is an Acadian Dish that is a must have and you can find this practically anywhere in Nova Scotia.

    Enjoy your honeymoon!!!
