Need for an officiant

Jessica, on February 4, 2020 at 20:39 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 10
My fiance and I are looking to get married in our church prior to the day of our reception and then have an outdoor ceremony on that day. However given that we will already be married I'm conflicted on if we need/want an officiant for that "unofficial" ceremony......

We are doing the same thing, minus the church. We have one of my fiancé's best friends "marrying" us for the wedding

No need for a second officiant. But as others have said, a friend to have a few words to say and add in the legal paperwork has already been done. I don't think you would need to explain.

Your marriage will be official by the time you the guests showing up. Putting the cost of another officiant adds up for your budget.
A friend or family member is better to ask to officiate the wedding saving on the cost. Though this is an unofficial wedding, they wouldn't require a license.

Ah officiant wouldn’t be required since all the paperwork will be done but you could still hire one if you wanted. Otherwise, I think having a friend who knows about you and can make it personal would be a wonderful way to celebrate your day.

You definitely dont need an officiant. I would ask a friend to do a simple ceremony.

You wouldn't need to pay an officiant if you're already legally married.
You could have a friend or loved one perform a symbolic ceremony as you exchange your vows in front of the group. Or do a handfasting or knot tying ceremony, some of the Celtic ones are neat!
