My first diy project will be,...

My card box!

Card Box DIY

Card Box DIY

I want to make this box, but with a lid and lock (to be on the safe side...I've heard sad stories!)

I think I will change the grey to white, but everything else pretty much the same. Has anyone tried to paint a project? Any tips? How about those flower crafters out there?

I'm heading to Michael's this coming weekend to see what supplies they have, and when I complete my finished work...either a pinterest fail, or a resounding success. Only time will tell.

If you can't find it and really need it let me know...I sell all kinds of adhesives for work (thrilling? lol) and might be able to get a sample or something!

3M makes a spray glue that might be good for getting glitter to stick, might be worth a shot- these are so glitzy, and will look great with that dress of yours!

I havn't tried painting yet but I will be painting my table numbers. Michaels had wood numbers and little platforms I can glue them onto. I will be using acrylic paint in a gold colour for them and then coating it with a spakle gold spray paint.

What we also might try is painting it and then getting gold sparkles and basically dipping it in and seeing how it works out. We can get a couple numbers and test them both and see the end results before we finish the rest!

This is what the end result should look like!

I would like to build it mostly myself, but If I find a pre- lidded box I might take that short cut. I'm not very good with tools, and I'd rather be safe Smiley winking

    Thanks for the paint tips!

My stepdad made my cupboards for my bathroom vanity and he used chalk paint! It looks great and has a mild vintage vibe. I think chalk paint would be awesome for this! And I like gray and white is a nice combination! Smiley laugh

Hey Melissa! Smiley heart Can't wait to see how it will look like! Smiley love The paint you choose should go with the material you choose to make your box. The one you posted looks like it's made of wood. You could use latex or oil-based paint for that. Smiley smile Will you start it from scrath and build the whole box with the lid?

I have promised this project to another friend who want to help- but don't think you'll escape a craft date for literally EVERYTHING else Smiley winking

We'll see how weird my flower looks before I cheat with a premade one!

YAY!!! SO CUTE! I've painted a bunch of things... any tips would depend on the material the box is made of. And if you want to save yourself trying to make the flower, you could just get a pretty one from Michaels, glue it on and it would look great!! Let me know if you need a hand... I smell a crafting date Smiley winking
