Memorable Entertainment

Samantha, on September 23, 2019 at 13:45 Posted in Wedding reception 0 8
Hi everyone!

My fiancé and I are tying the knot next July and we've booked all the essentials so far, and now we're looking at all the details, large and small. We want to have a fun wedding and we're trying to decide on an entertainment aspect, besides music/dancing. Neither my fiancé or I have been to that many weddings so we don't have much experience to go off from. We're thinking we want an entertaining bartender that can put on a bit of a show, and we've been told to get a Photo Booth by some of our friends but we feel that's been over done. But if it's still a popular thing then we'd consider it for sure. What was the most memorable or stand out things that you've experienced at weddings? What were you happy you splurged on for your own?

Thanks guys!

If we did look more into it/actually did it, we'd hire a pyrotechnic company to handle it (would've been more $$ but no worries)

I thought about the fireworks, I've always loved them! The only thing that's deterred me so far is I'd want to make sure someone outside of the wedding party/guest list would set them up. FH and I went to one wedding where FH was a groomsmen and it was the groomsmen's job to set them up, which I thought was strange.

I think the bartender(s) would be a great idea! I'd definitely vouch for 2 just so people aren't waiting too long for drinks. You also know your guest list better than any of us - if people would be irritated waiting vs. amused - maybe not.

We're doing a photo booth, it was something my FH really wanted lol. Most of the weddings we've been to haven't done photo booths so to us, it isn't overdone.

TBH, the weddings I most remember are the ones where it was more about the guests having fun amongst themselves. I agree with Kelsie that wedding don't need anything spectacular to make them more memorable.

One thing I would've loved to do was a firework show, but with our venue being a hotel, can't pull it off lol.

Our family loves the photo booths - we’re doing one and everyone is pumped!

To be honest, I don’t think weddings need anything spectacular. People will have fun talking and dancing. As long as the music is good, people will have fun.

the bartenders are cool though! I’ve seen them once or twice.

Not at a wedding, but at a cocktail party I attended they had an illusionist. It was similar to David Blaine's street performances and it was pretty cool. I liked that it didn't feel intrusive but it was there for those interested.

    Thank you!

And I totally understand that, that's why we will most definitely be having 2 bartenders specifically for that reason😅 plus the guest count will be 50.

But yeah! Like I said, all my friends are suggesting the photo booth, so I feel it's way over done but it's the one thing that keeps coming up lol maybe it's just the first thing that comes to people's minds? Either way, it's staying in the "maybe" column for now.

Bouncy castle was something I had considered! I also was just unsure of weather, but that may be a strong contender nonetheless😉

    Thanks for the suggestions!

Hi Samantha! Congrats on the engagement and welcome to the wedding wire community Smiley smile

I would say that as cool as having a bartender do tricks is - most drunk people just want their drinks and they want them fast! lol So if you go with that just make sure either your guest count is low or that you have 2 or 3 bar tenders in total.

As for the Photo Booth... people on here say they are having it so I guess it's not dead yet, but I think it's over done tbh.

You could also have: dancing (for example, I'm Ukrainian so I would get Ukrainian dancers), a magician, games, or even like how I wanted - a bouncy castle! lol If it weren't for the weather being such a big thing I would have loved to rent one (and no, there are no guests under 18 attending my wedding...)
