Mc/toasts question

Stacey Tc, on May 27, 2021 at 18:37 Posted in Wedding reception 0 6

So right now we have a guest list of 98 people (us included).

In order to save some money, we are planning on a bit of a different timeline.

Ceremony (everyone) 3:30-4

Dinner (family & wedding party-20 ppl) 5:30-6:30

Cocktail hour (everyone) 6:30-7:30

Midnight lunch

I'm trying to figure out how/when to do toasts and how to incorporate an MC (a good friend we really want as MC)

Any ideas?

Hmm I think maybe if you explicitly give a start time for your entrance/intro then people will be on time. Maybe 15 minutes or so into the cocktail hour? If you just say cocktail hour and there's no set event to be there for people will show up whenever they like and might miss some things. Otherwise I don't think there's much you can do without missing half of the cocktail hour yourself or like you said have a bunch of people late for your entrance, which would suck.

I think you can spread out the speeches during the cocktail hour after your entrance. If you have a lot of speeches and you're worried about fitting them in you could also have someone give a short speech during or right after the ceremony to get one of them out of the way earlier in the day.

Is the midnight lunch a sit down event where people are being served food like a traditional reception? Are you having an open bar? Is that when you're having the dance and speeches? If so, I'd plan for the grand entrance and intros to coincide with the start of that. Cocktail can just be mingling hour.

Forgive my ignorance but what's the difference between a regular dinner and midnight lunch?

Yes sorry, everyone is invited to everything from cocktail hour on.

We're still doing the entrance, intros etc. I'm just trying to figure out when to do it as most people (in my experience) arrive at some point during the cocktail hour, so I don't want to plan our grand entrance and find out 30 people still haven't arrived.

Ah, hit post before I finished.
I was gonna say, the MC would be working when you are having the festivities with grand entrance, first dance, speeches etc

What's the midnight lunch and is everyone invited to that? If not, I don't know how many of the non family members might stick around for a one hour cocktail hour set during dinner time, especially with a two hour gap post ceremony.

I'd imagine all the reception festivities like first dance and speeches are during this cocktail hour?
