acrylic paint on mason jars
Hi everyone,I started painting some mason jars this weekend and thought I would share this tip. Originally I was planning to use chalk paint because I saw that used on pinterest and I really liked the effect. I looked at Canadian Tire first because we don't have a Michaels close by, but they only had one colour and it wasn't what I wanted. That's where I also discovered that chalk paint is super expensive compared to what I expected! Around $30 for one small can of about 500mL. So I went to the dollar store and bought some acrylic paint, they were $1.25 each, total came to less than $15 for everything I needed . The acrylic paint worked perfect, looks just the same as chalk paint, exactly the look I am going for. I bought a can of matte sealant that I will put over them afterwards (at Michaels, for about $11 but I had a 40% off coupon). I'm planning to distress the jars a bit with sand paper before I apply the sealant. I'll post the finish product. Oh and I got the jars and picture frames at Value Village for super cheap too
Just wanted to share in case anyone else is planning to do this - don't spend tons of money on expensive chalk paint, good old dollar store will do the trick!
