marriage abroad. paper stuff??

Hey community! My fh and i want a destination wedding to get married in punta cana in february. Just wondering how to do it with paper stuff. should we get legally married here like civil marriage here in canada and then get married ceremony and all over there?? Or do we just get the license here and then sign the paperwork over there??? any help from people who have done this before or understand how it works would be very appreciated! thanks!

    Thanks for your reply em! i forgot i had already asked a similar question but yes i will look with our government and embassy maybe the agency who is helping us will also know something

    Having your wedding in Punta Cana during Winter... sounds like a dream come true!! Smiley love

    I looked up the Canadian Government website for you and they recommend to contact the embassy or consulate of the country where you want to get married to see what documents and requirements you need for your marriage.

    You should also make sure your passport will be valid for that period of time and I would suggest also checking with your provincial government to see if they have any additional requirement.

    Sooo much fuuun!!! im so jealouuuuus! but my family is all here and their a lot so i think we'll just enjoy the honeymooon as much as possible Smiley laugh for the paper stuff... no idea... are the papers the same in manitoba and ontario?
