Mailing Invites with Wax Seals

Dana, on March 5, 2019 at 14:09 Posted in DIY 1 8

Has anyone mailed invites using wax seals through Canada Post before? Just wondering what you did and how much postage you required?

You're going to have to bring them to canada post and request a hand cancelling service. Normal mail goes through a machine that will cancel the stamps. If you have wax seals and it runs though the machine, chances are they will break or rip off. The beauty of hand cancelling allows a real human being to individually cancel them. If you're worried that the wax will fall off while in transit, you can also get a mailing envelope to insert your inner envelope.

I am not 100% sure but when I tried to research the wax sealing, the forums I found suggested hand cancelling so I just requested it haha. But this is from google. Ask for your invitations to be “hand cancelled” rather than machine cancelled. That means that a human being at the post office stamps your envelope over the postage, to ensure the stamp can't be used again.

I second Jillian’s comment. its best to do it on your inner envelope or the invite itself though, as it can damage and break if you do it directly on the other one. The postage remained the same as a normal letter

We had our inner envelopes sealed with wax, no damage done inside, and the cost was the same as regular. We also requested hand cancelling when we dropped them off at Canada Post.
