Lost diamond?

Leah, on March 7, 2017 at 10:28 Posted in Before the wedding 0 6

I looked at my engagement ring on my hand today and noticed that the diamond was gone! What can I do? I got engaged last June. Do rings have warranties?

Lisa, no we didn't get insurance. He is going to look for the receipt. I can go by the jewellery store on Friday. It's a single diamond ring that cost just under $300 so I am not sure how worthwhile it would be to get insurance. My wedding ring is a QALO ring. My FH is a mechanic so he can't wear a metal ring to work but he can wear a silicone ring so we had QALO rings ordered with engraving inside them as our 'special' wedding rings. I will be ordering some other qalo rings too since they came out with some thinner ones that can mix and match. I am a teacher but really active with running, dance, karate and mountain biking. A silicone ring is perfect for his work and my lifestyle. I plan on keeping the engagement ring and wearing it on some occasions and saving it for my youngest daughter when she graduates high school since I already have a ring for my oldest daughter that their dad gave me as a birthday present a long long time ago. He wanted it back when we split but it was a birthday present. Never an engagement ring so I decided to put it away in it's box for when my oldest is done school.

I just hope I won't have to replace the diamond again before it's time to give it to her! She is only 6 now.

If you had your ring insured so can call your insurance company as well. Not sure if it would worth it, depending on the value of what you lost. Brides make sure you insure your engagement ring! You should do that right away! Smiley smile It's an extra cost but worth it.

Hi Leah, I went through this myself and completely understand how you feel. You will have to check with your FH and the jewelry company to see what type of warranty you have. Some cover for lost diamonds while others do not. Depending on the size, prices will vary. Also, we you get your ring fixed ask if they can check if other diamonds on your ring is loose so that you get them tighten to prevent possible future loss. I have to get my cleaned and inspected to check if any are possibly loose to have them tighten based on the claw work of my ring. Hoping for the best outcome for you.

We got a lifetime warranty with my ring for this exact reason. You should check with your FH to see if he got something like that and if he still has the paperwork. If not, you should call the store to find out.

That REALLY sucks... Have a look around the house, it probably fell out there... Did you insure it? I haven't because premiums would cost more than the ring, but in general it is a good idea.

Go back to where the ring was purchsed- different stores have different policies. If your FH saved the paperwork that came with the ring, it should state the warrenty there. ....but a ring that is less than a year old should NOT be falling apart!

    Good luck!
