Looking for alternative head table ideas

Sara, on January 1, 2020 at 17:16 Posted in Wedding reception 0 14
I don't like the idea of the wedding party sitting at a head table at the front of the room presiding over the guests like royalty. It feels weird and too hard to visit, as you're all facing away from each other, and the rest of the guests would feel a lot of pressure coming up to the head table to chat.

Is there a way to mix us in with the rest of the guests better for better visiting?

We are doing a sweetheart table with our son, a harvest table for our bridal party and their significant others and kids, and then regular tables for everyone else. Smiley smile

Were not doing that either. my entire wedding party is married and most of them have kids. so they are sitting at tables with their husbands and kids and we have a big chair we rented that just the two of us will sit on!

I'm intrigued by these ideas as well! What's a sweetheart table?

We're only have 40 guests and no BM/MOH...any suggestions on how to decide where we should sit?

I’m doing a 20 person harvest table where the bridal party will all sit with their significant others. We’ll be at a sweetheart table looking down the harvest table and all the other guests will be at round tables.

We just sat with the rest of the guests close to the wedding party and their partners. It was so easy to chat with everyone and we got a lot of positive comments on it!

I've noticed recently that people who forego the head table usually end up having the wedding party seated at a table that's a different shape! For example, if your guests are all sitting at round tables, maybe your wedding party can be seated at harvest tables for a little visual difference that doesn't seem to overbearing!

I'm not having a head table or a sweetheart table. I'm just having everyone at a regular table. It is easy for us since there is one MOH and one BM. We can still just be a table of 8

I think we'll have about 20 at the king table and 8-10 at the round ones. It was set up that way at our venue's menu tasting event last year and it felt really right for us.

That's a really cool idea! How many are you going to have at the king table versus the outside tables?

We're not keen on the traditional head table either and even a sweetheart table puts the spotlight on us more than we want. Instead, we're going with a king table down the centre of the room so we can sit with our family, bridal party, and their SOs. All the other guests will sit at round tables around the outside.

    Thanks Shannon!
Will that have them close enough so you can actually chat? That's not a bar idea!

I love the idea of a sweetheart table. Then the bridal party can be at a guest style table or mixed in among the guests.

We aren't having a sit down dinner but I'll probably make a sweetheart table as a kind of home base when we want a break from dancing.

FH and I hated the idea too, and we've both been in wedding parties as well and it just always felt awkward. So we've opted to have a sweetheart table just like Shannon. This way FH and I can have that time alone to enjoy each other's company, and it takes away the awkwardness I think
