Looking for advice

Dylan, on June 12, 2023 at 18:09 Posted in Ontario 0

Hi everyone,

My fiancee and I are looking to get married in July 2025 so we still have plenty of time, but I started looking at venue and it looks like a lot of them charge the entire price per guest instead of a ceremony fee, reception fee, and food per guest, which ends up making the bill much higher than if those were paid separately.

While I can go up to $25,000CAD, we decided early on that we would want to plan for around $15,000CAD for the entire wedding (so we have some room in case of unexpected circumstances). My fiancee has a big family and so we are looking at anywhere between 100 to 130 guests, which is why we would rather find a place that charges fees separately.

To give you an example, we found venues that will charge $189CAD/guest plus taxes and a 15% service fee, which would bring our cost to anywhere over $22,000CAD and $30,000CAD (not including music, flowers, attires, photography, videography, etc..). My friend who recently got married was able, at the time, to get a place that charged a set fee for ceremony and reception, which also brought the cost of food to about $60CAD/guest.

I was wondering if you knew of beautiful venues that offer fixed fees for reception and ceremony, or if you had any advice on how we could possible keep our total expenses under $15,000CAD with so many people. We are looking for places close to the US border around Quebec and Ontario, and we like a more modern looking style of venue.

Thank you for taking the time to read all my rambling!
