Livestream or recording ceremony and sharing later

Hannah, on March 11, 2021 at 11:53 Posted in Wedding ceremony 1 7
Hey everyone
My fiancé and I are getting married in august and we’re having a small wedding but we wanted to include extended family and friends through some kind of live-streaming or recording of the ceremony. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations for either of those options? Please let me knowSmiley smile

Many options are available upon your choice to choose. Many times in the family, zoom has been used and other versions suggested can be your call to make for having family and friends viewing the video live. A professional is something you would consider, get quotes that will fit in your budget.

Our friends were married last year and they used Event Live. It was amazing because you are sent the invite to rsvp, then sent reminders and receive a link to click on to join live, plus it's saved on line for a year if you want to go back to watch it. Very reasonable to share your day with everyone!!!!

    All solid options in here.

I would add that social media Lives work great and aren’t tech heavy. Building some hype is native to those platforms and can draw a crowd without “guests” having to do any work to find the stream.

We’ve used Joy app before too - but we built out the wedding on that platform from the beginning, which may not make sense depending on where you’re at.
With Zoom, you’ll want premium so you don’t cut out 40 minutes in Smiley winking
Logistically, give your videographer or photographer a bribe, *ahem*, tip to use their tripods Smiley winking
I’ve even hustled with venue staff to man the stream once it has begun.

We are using zoom! A friend offsite will run zoom as the host. (Along with 2 offsite cohosts to let people in out of the wait room) One friend on-site will be recording our wedding in person with two cameras. One directly facing the officiant on the podium (this also ensures that if the microphones aren't working as well as planned, it will at least be close by and hopefully pick up voices.
The camera that our friend will hold onto will be for zoom attenders to see me walk down the aisle, and then be facing us during the wedding.
At the end, our first dances will be recorded. We’ve also allotted time before photos to hop into all the breakout rooms at the end to say hi to everyone. We will be using data for recording at the venue. The host will be using wired internet in his home! You can also record it on zoom to watch later. We are upgrading from the regular plan that you pay for to the one that allows for 500 connections

If it's in your budget and you really want quality audio and video for people watching from afar, I think it's a good idea to hire someone to do this professionally. I haven't used these companies but have seen them/heard good things about them - most will do different angles too and flick back and forth between them so people can see more than just a straight shot. Some of them have the live videographer who will get some good movement shots too. Their websites have some samples too which were great.

EventLive works really well for a live stream. No need for anyone to download an app to watch, can access on regular internet browser and the platform sends regular reminders on the event date and time.

If your setup doesn't allow you to capture external sound into the feed, it would help your guests by amplifying your voice via a hand held mic connected to a PA.

I find Zoom's video feed to not be the best and way too glitchy (freezing, lags, etc) based on work use.

We used zoom which worked perfectly for sharing with my immediate family but I probably wouldn't recommend it if you're sharing it with more than a few people unless you have a very good and reliable internet connection at your ceremony location.

We considered using twitch and in hindsight I think that would have been the better option. The zoom stream was, as we should have expected, very grainy - like most zoom calls lol. We recorded the stream for us to have and to show to my grandparents who don't have internet access, but the quality is horrible.

I'd also recommend no matter what you end up using to purchase an external microphone. We just bought a lav mic from Amazon and put it on the ground in between us. The phone we recorded on was about 6-8 feet away from us and we were outside so I'm not sure we would have gotten clear audio without the mic.
