Let's talk food!

So, if you had the option of wanting a buffet, but you favorite restaurant was not available to cater to your event, would you and you guests go to the restaurant if they reserved a room just for you!?

    Exactly!

Plus I would tip the restaurant 15% Gratuity on top of the food price. There is a discussion still to be had with the restaurant.

I would hope that my guest would not leave things all over the place, especially at a restaurant.

    Thank you

Maybe you can pay them for servers time? that way you dont have to clean up? but i also feel like people wont leave things all over the place in a restaurant

Thank you for your comment, I am really highly thinking of doing it this way. Besides the fact, they are not offering catering outside the restaurant, you are able to do a take out buffet, which would result in us assigning someone to do clean up. Ugh, honestly would not like to do that to someone. I want something easy, and easy going.

    Thank you!

We are def set on their food! I was not a fan of how little would be served as choices if take out and set up buffet ourselves.

    Thanks for your response!

For a smaller reception/ Dinner I would say yes! If you have your heart set on that food and their is some privacy I'd say go for it!

    Hi Hank!

Yes, they have a place were the doors can be closed, and we would have our privacy that way.

We are thinking with the more food options it would be a better solution, therefore we would be probably maybe do a speech or two there, then all the rest can be done at that hall, along with no clean up from the dinner! Smiley smile

    Thank you!

Restaurant weddings are awesome! I find food at restaurants to be so much better than a banquet hall and you get it for a much better price.

Only caveat is, since you're not booking the whole place, depending on how private or sectioned off your area is, you might not be able to do speeches and games, or stay as late as you would in a banquet hall. But if those are non-factors then I say go for it!

Right! I was looking at prices for this and that, to be able to hold it at our reception venue. Geesh it is actually quite a bit, once you add it all up. Then only for your guests to throw it away, if disposable, or a renting charge if you choose that option.

Thank you for your reply, this actually makes me feel a bit better! The restaurant can hold quite a few people, we are not going to have a lot of people. So just a room would be great for us! Plus there are more food options for the buffet this way!

I wouldn't mind that as a guest. It would be so much easier from a planning standpoint too, no linen or place settings to rent, no added cost for transportation, and the food stays hot and fresh (plus they might be able to repurpose leftovers that would have been wasted off-site).

The only issue I can think of is if you want to have speeches or toasts, the noise from other tables might be an issue.

100%, so long as the room was large enough to comfortably accommodate everyone. I've attended several weddings at restaurants and loved it.

Of course I would Smiley smile a wedding is a wedding regardless of where it is. If they have a private room even better. Another thing you can look into is see how many guests you have... what the capacity of the venue is and see if you can just rent out the whole restaurantSmiley smile

Right! I mean in a way, it would bother me, only because of the other guests that would be dining in as well... But hey let's eat right!

The only other reason I would think of having a buffet right in the restaurant would be the more food choices for the price.

We are going to have a BBQ at our rehearsal dinner.

I mean, if it was a small wedding - FOR SURE! Why not? As long as they let me dress the room up all nice and pretty, I think it can really show guests who the couple is and what they enjoy Smiley smile That's why we had BBQ at my wedding!
