Let's talk cake frosting

Joey, on January 29, 2019 at 08:05 Posted in Wedding reception 0 11

Buttercream, cream cheese, fondant, chocolate, mirror glaze, or drip...

Naked, nearly naked, or lots of layers...

What are your cake frosting feelings? What will adorn your wedding cake?

Our wedding cake frosting was buttercream due to the fact we froze our top tier and cost efficient. The design of the reception card complimented our concept and dog paws to remember our first dog Peanut being present.

Our cake will have fondant. I know a lot of people dislike it, but it's just a small cutting cake so I don't really care.

We’ll be having a cake and it will be fondant because I actually love fondant icing. I’m not a huge fan of buttercream (it tickles my throat when I eat it)

Our cake and cupcakes will all have buttercream frosting! The cake will have a ruffled effect since I love my frosting lol.

I really don't like the way fondant tastes, but there is lots of neat fondant cakes out there! I ended up scrapping an idea because the baker said it would be impossible without fondant.

I also think naked cakes look great for more rustic weddings but in a ballroom setting, they can look unfinished, plus less icing!

My fiancé and I are going with a two-tier semi-naked buttercream cake. Flavours TBD!

We’re going to do cake pops! We will have a small cut cake as well, and as much as I would love to have a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, red velvet sounds like a disaster waiting to happen with me in a white wedding dress! as far as frosting goes though, cream cheese is definitely my all time fave

I am not super big on cakes, but FH is. So the cake will be up to him. I personally am not a fan of fondant, so I would for sure stick to buttercream!

Other than that, I am open to whatever FH will pick!

I'm thinking Cream Cheese as it just tastes so good to me - but for sure going to be a covered up cake! I just think a naked cake looks so unfinished and like the baker tried to frost a cake, failed, and that is what they came up with because they ran out of time...

I wasn't sure on doing a cake but leaning towards it! I would like ours to be few tiers, soft icing with buttercream. Vanilla cake. that all i have figured out so far!

Our cake will be nearly naked, I believe. A close friend of mine is making one for us - part wedding cake and part birthday cake for my fiance - and I'm leaving it all up to her! All I know is that it's going to be red velvet, my fiance's favourite!

We’re not having a cake but I prefer naked icing.
