Legal stuff

Teresa, on August 12, 2018 at 23:20 Posted in Before the wedding 0 3

Hello ladies!

My fiancé and are getting married in a church and I'm wondering if we have to get any legal papers or if the church does that for us.

If anyone know, please let me know as we have 88 days until the wedding and as i'm also stressing over it.

Thanks in advanced! Smiley laugh

You need to get your own marriage license. Even though the religious ceremony is very meaningful, you are responsible to get the marriage license, and do the signing and send it off, for it to be legal.

You can pick up your license within 90 days of your wedding (well, you can pick it up any time, but it's valid for 90 days).... make sure you get it at least a month out from the wedding.

Marriage license will be required for the signing. Inquire if he/she needs it days before or you bring it in the dat of the wedding.

Check with your church! We have to provide the marriage license (bought through the city) but to get married in the church and receive communion my fiance had to provide his baptism certificate. But not just provide it... he had to get an updated version of it to. So now hes in talks with the church back in Dubai where he was baptized to get a new one and it's been a lot of back and forth. Also our church said we can use an emailed copy of it but some might need an original copy from the church so keep that in mind!
If you are not accepting communion during your wedding I'm not sure if you need all the same things? But for sure talk to the church asap!
