Leftover Cake

Hank, on September 14, 2021 at 18:26 Posted in Wedding reception 0 6

If you have leftover cake, how long do you plan on keeping it for?

I've always been a proponent of not over-ordering on our cake and despite our best efforts, we had some leftovers at the end of the night. Not a crazy amount but still more than what two people can polish in a short amount of time.

How long do you plan on waiting before you decide it's time has come? lol

Is it stale? I'd check that first. That's a whole for cake but the fridge helps. And yup - just take it out at least an hour before you want to eat it.

So we're at almost the 2 week mark and it's been in a plastic container in the fridge. Should we still bother freezing it? Do we just thaw it to eat?

Oh tip: wrap in saran wrap, tin foil, and then an air tight freezer bag.

We had to downsize our wedding but still insisted on the big cake 😂 we kept a bunch out for the following week and then froze the rest. We plan to pull it out for our 1 year marriage anniversary and probably for the wedding anniversary too (two dates but only 2.5 months apart). I've made wedding cakes and been told they taste just as good after a year. I doubt it given as someone who bakes, I know never to freeze the cake layers I've made in advance for more than 3 months, but yay! Haha.

You could freeze the rest and have it on your one year anniversary!
