Late night snacks

Kristina, on August 10, 2022 at 01:35 Posted in Wedding reception 0 6
We are planning on serving late night food (e.g., sliders, flatbread, etc.) and can only pick two dishes. There are a few vegans in the group (like 4 out of 70) and I’m wondering what I should arrange for them. I could make one of the two options vegan friendly, but don’t want to give up one of my two food options. How did you guys approach this?

I had a similar situation at an event, and we ended up going with a vegan flatbread. Honestly, even the non-vegans loved it.

We are doing hummus and flatbread style platters with Veggies and Pizzas to suit everyone's needs.

I think if they will be provided other food options throughout the night (diner, appies, ect) then I wouldn't worry about late night snacks.

The one thing with dietary restrictions, is most people know they can't be accommodated everywhere. I have several invited to my wedding with dietary needs (celiac, pescatarian, nut allergy, and vegan) and a few of them have just told me that if we are not able to accommodate their needs, they will just eat prior (we are having a later wedding) or eat what they can.

Have one of each! After a large dinner, people may prefer something light. Here is a link to an article on Wedding Wire about this very issue:

I'm sure even non-vegans would enjoy the vegan option as well. I wouldn't stress too much Smiley smile

LOVE the idea of the late-night snacks. My sister had fried chicken for hers and it was a hit.

Did you provide vegan cocktail hour appetizers in addition to their meal? If so, I wouldn't worry about it. As much as it's great to be able to accommodate dietary restrictions, such small numbers don't warrant such an overhaul of a limited menu item. Not everyone partakes in late night food anyway since people are usually full from dinner.

That being said, a vegan flat bread is also not the end of the world for a non-vegan. It'd be like a glorified bruschetta.
