Joey, on December 11, 2017 at 08:18 Posted in Before the wedding 0 37

We want to know what wedding customs and traditions you are keeping and which you are skipping. In this week's game, it's all about pre-wedding traditions.

Are you keeping or skipping having a Stag & Doe or a Jack & Jill?

On the fence. My FH wants one and I’m not against it but I really don’t want another thing to plan lol I told him he would have to take the lead on planning if he wants to have a jack and Jill

Skipping it. No one in my family had even heard of it when I mentioned seeing it on-line. From anyone I know, if it was being used to raise money for the wedding, it only wound up loosing money.

Skipping. I only have MOH and BM it's way too much work for 2 people. I have a feeling I will be having a bit of a hard time convincing my MOH that I don't need this.... She is already planning.

Keeping! Here in Hamilton, it's very common.

Our Stag & Doe will be in May 2020. For budget we kept our wedding around 50 guests, so the Stag & Doe will be for everyone else we love, but who aren't going to the wedding. It's 80's themed, we will have a live DJ, an 80's photobooth, cash prize for the best dressed 80's outfit and my FH works at a local well known restaurant, so the food will be awesome - so it just may be more memorable than the wedding!!

It's not so much for raising the money for the wedding (we have it almost paid off), but for people to come out and have a great time and win some awesome prizes!

Skipping them, we are not near family and they would be the main reason to have one.

Skipping they are way more work than they are worth for me. We didn’t need the money and I always found it odd that people don’t just plan a wedding writhing their budget (that was before I started planning ours and discovered just how much weddings actually can cost and now I get it).

We are debating between the stag and doe and just raffle tickets. I think we will still keep it though!

This is similar enough to the previous that I have no need to differentiate between the two.

Skipping. Stag & Doe are not popular in Alberta. But the FH will probably have a stag.

Keeping. Maid of Honor and Best Man said they can't imagine us apart let alone to celebrate the wedding. We will keep half the day separate but the other half will be together

Keeping. I didn’t want one, nor the extra planning involved. But it’s a big one to him, and he’s been SO supportive to all of his friends and family when they had theirs, so he’s expecting a big turnout and a great time!

He’s given me a lot of control over the wedding, so I’m giving him this lol.

Skip, we do not feel comfortable asking for people for (more) money for our wedding. Reception is one thing, but asking for money so that I can throw the wedding so that they can come and give me more money is another.

Skip!!! I don't understand the point of having a "fundraiser" for your wedding. It's enough that people have to go to engagement parties, showers, bachelor/bachelorette parties on top of the wedding. I personally don't feel that people should also have to pay to attend an event to celebrate you and your wedding.
