Is it Rude to seat my Vendors in different Area

Brittany, on March 11, 2019 at 11:45 Posted in Wedding reception 0 9

So our venue has a max capacity of 120 on the main floor. And then there are two upper balcony spaces available for tables or other activities. I didn't even think we were going to be close to our capacity, but we are sitting at 130 right now. With 10 at the head table. We may have to put a table up on the balcony for the vendors. I was thinking of possibly doing it anyways, as we only have 3 or 4 that will be staying and eating.. and they may be eating at different times. I think it would be weird to have a full table for three people, and have them all sitting there at different times.

Is it rude to put them on the balcony?

The Only vendors that are staying and eating at the reception are the photographers and videographers and the DJ. The DJ eats at this booth he said. However that leaves 4 of them to seat (two photographers and 2 videographers)
The thing we were told is that if we want photos and video of our reception, such as the speeches, then our vendors need to see what is going on and when. They also need to have access to it in order to capture the moments. For this reason we actually have the 4 of them sitting with our parents at a table right in front of the head table and the podium. This way they don’t disturb anyone trying to capture anything and they have full access to see everything and anyone which they all said makes their jobs easier

How difficult is it to get them to the balcony? As long as they're aware that this is where there's space for a vendors table, it sounds like a fine idea.

I think it's alright as long as it's clear that you're not just sticking them somewhere unpleasant.

remember to still decorate the table etc, and maybe even make a sign for the table as an expression of thanks.

I think it would be alright, especially if it would look weird if only one person was at the table at a time.

They way you are describing it, you aren't having them work when you are letting them eat. I think with some heads up, they'll be ok with the balcony.

We are strategically planning our timeline so they actually have a break to eat without having to worry about working, taking photos etc. So I am not worried about that. And if that's the case I would possibly have to boot family or friends up to the balcony. I also want them to be able to enjoy their break. Not have to talk to guests if they don't want to. Etc. I am just wondering if they would see it as rude to be sat in a different area. My venue isn't huge. The balcony area over looks everything. And you come down the stairs and are right beside the head table.

I personally wouldn't sit them too far away... I mean your vendors you have there working for you, you wouldn't want to put them somewhere further away and make it difficult to eat and do their job? Like I have my photographers sitting right beside the dance floor so they can always be in a good spot for photos! My DJ is sitting close to the DJ booth, and my coordinators and sitting with the DJ so they can be close to the microphones too to make sure everything stays on track!

I'm more strategically placing them to make their lives and job the easiest!

I think that is great idea and pretty sure no offense will be taken as they will get their own space.

That's what I was thinking. Then they don't have to be "on" and can get a break and some privacy to do whatever they want.

Yeah my photographer is eating before me. The only one who is going through last is the DJ because he has to call tables.

I think that is a perfect idea! Keeps them out of the way and who knows - maybe they want to be on their phone or something while eating. I can't see it being a problem as long as they get warm food!
