Invitations - Vistaprint? Michaels?

Sarah, on June 2, 2019 at 11:27 Posted in DIY 0 12
I thought I wanted to get our invitations from vistaprint, as well as the rsvp cards, accommodation cards etc but it’s a couple hundred dollars which I expected but now I’m thinking is it cheaper to get a box of DIY invites from Michaels and print them off ourselves? Thoughts? Or does anyone know how much it costs to go to an stationary company?

We also got ours from vistaprint and they turned out fantastic! We got them to design everything for us: our ceremony programs, reception programs, save the dates, invites, rsvp cards, detail cards, everything! Everyone loved how it all turned out. Having everything match and not having to worry about it very much was worth the money for us. They also often have sales on that can help you bring the price down

I did the DIY kits from Michael's and was perfectly happy with them. The most expensive thing about the invitations was probably the postage.

Vistaprint has 50% off coming up. I just got an email to get it ahead of time. Plus they have deals all the time!
Like Valerie said, they come with free envelopes which saves a lot of money.
We also cut costs and didn’t do the whole “ invite package” we just did save the dates. And the invites and RSVP cards. Many of our guests are in town and don’t need information for accommodations. Plus our ceremony and reception are at the same place. So no need to provide directions or any more information

If you're looking to save some money, I'd suggest cutting down on the whole invitation suite (accommodation, RSVP, info cards) and include that info on a website instead. I found that the cost of invitations did add up really quickly when you add all of the bells and whistles. For example, you'll need to buy twice as many stamps for your RSVP card/envelopes, whereas you wouldn't have to if your guests RSVP'd online!

That being said, if you are looking to have all of the bells and whistles, vistaprint would be more cost effective (IMO). All of their invitations include free envelopes (!!!!) and they often have massive deals/sales. I keep getting 20% off coupons with each orders too, which I never end up using because a better deal is available on their website lol.

I also like that you have more variety/freedom to modify the stationary with vistaprint.

I was happy with my invites from VistaPrint - as Chelsea mentioned, they often have 40 or 50% off sales, so keep an eye open for that!

I just ordered my Save the Dates from Staples and it would have been really cost effective had I not ordered magnet Save the Dates (pricier because they are heavy).

Maybe see if staples has anything! Or Costco!

Vistaprint often does 50% off sales! i got ceremony invitations, two different reception invitations, rsvp cards, return address sticker, envelope stickers and envelopes from vista print and including shipping i paid $165! it would have been nearly double that had i not waited for the sale

I think a stationary company that will do everything themselves might be pricy, and I’m not sure how the DIY from Michaels would go. You could alternatively try to find a freelance graphic designer who might just be starting off. That way they might be a little cheaper?
I ordered my invitations from Vista Print and yes, it was a little pricy but I’m was so happy with the quality and ease of it all.
