Invitation wording

Rebecca, on July 10, 2019 at 17:34 Posted in Before the wedding 0 11

So we are ordering our invitations at some point this week or next and I need suggestions or help with wording. My FH and I are eloping in the morning just me him and our witnesses, after we are having a reception. My mom keeps saying its not a reception its a "happily ever after party". Which is driving me crazy because I am spending the same amount on this reception as I would on a "real wedding" (in case you can not tell she's still a little bitter about the eloping lol). I do want to inform people that there is no ceremony but that it is a wedding reception and not a casual celebration.

Any Ideas?

Photographers offer a same day edit so you can have the pictures ready within a time frame to show in the evening to your guests. I know this has been done as some of my cousins photographers did it onsite for them.

Inquire with your photographer about it.

I love the slideshow idea and I am hiring someone to film the elopement but its the same day as the reception so the slideshow idea wont really work.

A simple Reception Invitation is really needed to let your guests know where and when. A smaller card can be added to let them know you have eloped in the area of your choice.

A slide show of the pictures would be nice to see when they enter to sit in the chairs or get drinks at the bar at the venue.

Makes sense! She probably thinks if she bugs you enough about it, you'll cave and have a "regular" ceremony.

Yeah I really like the wording on that one.

I know it's a real wedding I think my moms just being bitter and getting into my head because she upset (understandably).

This is exactly what I would say! It doesn't matter if you elope or not, a reception is still a reception! Btw, your wedding is totally a "real" wedding Smiley tongue since you are getting married lol

    That's when the phrase

"Jane and John will be married in a small ceremony on November 9th 2019

"Please join us in celebration at our wedding reception following the ceremony at 7:00PM..."

Consider your elopement to just be a small ceremony, especially if it's on the same day as your reception.

You can also state that you are having a private and personal ceremony in the morning so that they know not to expect one but are aware it took place that day?

Like Casey, I am also not the best with wording, BUT, I looked on Pinterest and found you all of these. I hope it helps, some of them look pretty good!

Why not something along the lines of "Join us for the Reception as we celebrate the Marriage of [name] and [name]"?

I am not the best with the wording! Have you checked out Pinterest? There are normally tons of options for invites!
