In-between activities. (after ceremony, before reception)

Marissa, on June 22, 2017 at 02:16 Posted in Wedding reception 0 5

Hi, looking to see if anyone has any ideas/tips to make things go smoothly.

Our ceremony is at 2pm, with the reception dinner not starting until 530 or so. Everything is at the same location (a golf course), but the bridal party/family etc will be getting pictures done in between.

Our wedding is part 'normal wedding' theme, and part video game (mainly mario/nintendo because it is a little more relatable) theme.

Currently we are planning on having a few tvs set up with different systems (n64, super nintendo, wii, game cube) with mario kart on each.
We are trying to thing of other overall guest friendly activities etc for people to do while we are busy getting photos done.

We are also going to have a photo booth.

Our reception area will be open to them inbetween, but we don't want everyone to get bored/tired and leave early.

Any tips/ideas for keeping guests occupied? (video game themed or otherwise).

Thanks Smiley smile

Have some golfers to enjoy a 9 hole round in the meantime? I'm sure kids will be busy with the gaming system as they love games. Jenga block for the adults truth or dare version.

Three hours to kill. That's a lot of time to have to fill up. If it were my choice, I'd be moving the dinner to 5:00 with snacks and punch or cocktails around 3 pm. Could you hire some live entertainment to pass the time?

Will there be a cocktail hour? That would help pass the time. You can also have your guestbook out at that time for people to sign and photos of you guys to look at. I don't think you have to be worried about people leaving, it's a wedding and people generally know that there is a gap between the ceremony and the reception and they should expect to mingle with the other guests

You could have horseshoes or if you are really adventurous you could set up croquet! Smiley smile

Games like bean bag toss or some people call it corn hole! While guests are entering, you could have a little station at the front for words of advice, or different date night ideas for the bride and groom, this way they are doing something. If you have kids, maybe some colouring pages, word searches that go with your theme.
