How to pick/research a commissioner

Bailey, on October 27, 2020 at 15:37 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 5
Ladies I’m looking for recommendations on how to pick a wedding commissioner, what questions do you ask? I don’t even know what I’m looking for in a commissioner, I want to feel confident in my decision, but I find myself in a position where I don’t know how to choose one! I feel like I need to interview them, I don’t want to hire him/her if I don’t know or enjoy their work. So how do I figure out if I like them? I wish I could attend one of their past ceremonies 😂

Allseasons.com has varies Commissioners/Officiants on which you can read the reviews to know if you feel comfortable to talk to them and get to know what service they offer. You can select 3 top choices and base who will be the one to get you married. Way out the pros and cons with the cost budget wise. See if they will customize to your needs and if religious/non-religious direction of your decision.

My fiance and I are also getting married in BC. Since we live in Alberta, it was very difficult not being able to get together with people in person to see if they would be a good fit. But we were recommended by our venue a few of their best ones that they've had for other weddings. So we started with that and even looked at all of the reviews online and such. When I had emailed our potential Pastor, he had given us a package with all of his information on what he does and all of the different kinds of weddings he does Traditional based Wedding and Contemporary based Wedding etc. We knew right after we had read the packages he has to offer, we wanted to have him conduct our wedding. I always say to go with your gut!

Honestly depends how pick you are. We talked with one officiant and decided on it. 1) he/she will be there for 20-30 min. He has a good flow, and has some humour which we like. We just wanted something quick and simple so for us the decision was easy.

You could always look them up on YouTube to see if you can find a previously recorded ceremony. If you can't find it, ask if they have any video available.

When interviewing them, ask them about their approach to weddings, what their style is, what elements are included in the ceremony, do they have any restrictions (if you're religious and your officiant is part of that faith, he or she might not be open to certain things). If you have certain traditions from your culture you want to incorporate, ask if they have experience with that.

When speaking, whether it's in person or over video chat, check out their body language and their vernacular and see if you're jiving with them. Hopefully there is a "connection" or sorts and that you feel comfortable bringing them on to be a part of your special day. If they rub you off in any way, don't hire them.

Definitely ask about timing (how long their ceremony is, their experiences with delayed start etc),
